Chapter Recognition Award Program
US Lacrosse is pleased to announce an improved version of our Chapter of the Month program now called the Chapter Recognition Award Program. This program was developed by the Chapters Advisory Council, communications committee. The purpose of this program is to recognize chapters for their outstanding performance in fulfilling US Lacrosse’s mission to provide programs and services to inspire participation while preserving the integrity of the sport.
Chapters are nominated by the Chapter Relations Department and staff at US Lacrosse, then contacted for an interview by a member of our communications committee. The awardee is selected by vote of the council communications committee after thoroughly reviewing recent and upcoming activities of the chapter, compliance status as well as long term goals. This award is given out quarterly throughout the calendar year and each awardee receives a certificate to acknowledge the award, outreach via several US Lacrosse channels of communication, announcement at national convention chapter events and grant funding. Additional benefits are considered as well. Any questions about the Chapter Recognition Program should go to the Chapter Relations Director at esturgis@uslacrosse.org.
Chapter Recognition Program presents THE WESTERN MARYLAND CHAPTER with the March 2009 Award!
The Western Maryland Chapter of US Lacrosse is one with a rural setting, but with a population explosion and significant recent lacrosse impact for being outside the reaches of Baltimore’s lacrosse mecca. Founded by Bill Sardella and John Piper, Kim Lenta, current President, longtime board member and US Lacrosse volunteer and advocate gives this chapter a boost. Together and with a board of twelve, they have led this chapter to its comprehensive growth and service to its membership of around 1350. For the first time this past fall the chapter organized and offered a seven week youth fall ball program which increased their US Lacrosse membership by about 350, a 35% increase from that one event. This chapter is known for good communication with other chapters and with National Leadership and for chapter compliance.
